What we do

Unprecedented global events have exposed governments, businesses and other organisations to increasing levels of risk that no single organisation can tackle on its own.

In this new, unstable reality government policy does not stand still - many changes are in the pipeline that will have far reaching impacts for all organisations in terms of cost and operational constraints.

It is therefore mission critical for organisations to be aware of, engage in and prepare for emergent policy and regulatory proposals. By actively engaging, organisations can challenge and shape government thinking and anticipate and prepare for change.

The Policy Key was founded by a former Senior Civil Servant who has been at the heart of some of the most high-profile policy and regulation making of recent years. Our mission is threefold:

  • to enable leaders to identify proposed government policy and regulatory changes relevant to their business and to support them in engaging directly with governmental processes.

  • to assist leaders in understanding the impact of recent or forthcoming government policies or regulations and to advise on how to adapt to prepare for change.

  • to assist organisations with their own policy and strategy development, drawing on two decades’ worth of experience of making government policy.

Services

Net Zero and Energy

  • Global events have highlighted the potential fragility of our access to energy. The UK Government and wider international commitment to net zero will mean additional significant change to the energy landscape in just a few years.

  • We help leaders understand the future outlook on decarbonisation, engage in the policy making process, identify the impacts of impending changes and help them to adapt business strategies accordingly.

Cyber Security Strategy

  • Governments across the world recognise cyber risk is growing and is a threat to the global economy. The UK is one of the most cyber attacked countries in the world.  Government is looking to bolster resilience to attack through extending regulation and codes of practice.

  • We help businesses and other organisations to engage with this thinking in a non-technical way and develop cyber resilience strategies aligned to business priorities.

Policy Making

  • Government is constantly evolving policy and taking decisions on the future direction of legislation and regulation, often in niche areas that may not hit the headlines but threatens to increase costs and reduce opportunities.

  • We help organisations to understand what is anticipated, how to influence and shape upcoming governmental policy and regulatory formulation and how to prepare for change.

NET ZERO & ENERGY

The transition to net zero will mean unprecedented change to the energy landscape in just a few years.

We have recent experience of working at senior levels of government, including with Ministers on energy policy making and horizon planning over the short, medium and long term.

CYBER STRATEGY

In our ever more interconnected world, cyber security is critical to protect business operations.

Our experience includes a leading role in the creation of the current UK Governmental cyber frameworks.

POLICY MAKING

In response to global threats and an ever changing world the scale of government policy making is huge.

We have over 20 years’ experience of formulating policy at senior levels of government working in partnership with a range of organisations.
